Bored of entering repeated data into Excel-Use Fill Handle( Auto Fill Option)

Few days back, a colleague of mine have been asked to document a template to keep a record of all the monthly activities
Something similar to this

I remembered myself , when I have watched him doing a similar mundane work that I did a few years back

Its like entering each date and corresponding week day into respective cells…

But there is a magic way to handle it and its a feature that excel provides called”Fill Handle”

As soon as you select the cell that you want to create a series like below

At the button right of the cell border you can find a square box, by just dragging that down till the require range can save a lot of time for you.

When the same I have with my colleague , he was really a lot relaxed .

He was able to create the template in much lesser time than he expected it may take, how cool right?

We can take explore more options using the Auto fill options

Lets look at each option in detail >>>Copy cells :  Copies the entire cells including the formulas and formatting.

Fill Series : Selecting this will fill the values based on the first cell in the selection range.

Fill Formatting only : Copies only the formatting of first cell in the selection range through out the selected range.

Fill Without Formatting :   Copies the entire cells including the formulas and formatting.

Fill Days :  Selecting this will fill the Day values based on the first cell in the selection range.

Fill Weekdays :   Selecting this will fill the Weekday values based on the first cell in the selection range (Excludes Sunday and Saturday).

Fill Months : Selecting this will fill the Month values based on the first cell in the selection range.

Fill Years :  Selecting this will fill the Year values based on the first cell in the selection range.

By the way , you can experiment by two or more start cells!!!

Like Selecting alternate numbers, even months and so on….
