1. What is COUNT Function?

The COUNT function can be used to count the number of cells that contain Numerics and counts the numbers within the list of arguments.


2. What is the Syntax?

 

=COUNT(value1, [value2], …)

 

  • value1   = Can be an item, cell reference, or range within which you want to count numbers.
  • value2 =  Optional and can be up to 255 additional items, cell references, or ranges within which you want to count numbers.

Note :

  • Dates, Logical values and text representation of numbers .i.e a number enclosed in quotation marks, such as “1” are counted when given directly as arguments.
  • Empty cells, logical values, text, or error values in the array or reference are not counted.

3. How to use it with an example?

Suppose we have a list of items, which may include different types of elements in it.

Here is how we can count the number of numerics in the given list.
